Welcome to OISSG discussion lists

The primary objective of our mailing lists is the discussion and development of frameworks such as the ISSAF and the fostering of our local chapter activities. However, if you have any question related to information security, please feel free to ask in the relevant discussion list. We strongly believe that no question is stupid if you show that you have done some amount of research yourself and you are asking in an intelligent manner.

In discussion groups such as these, the kind of answers you get depends on the way you ask the questions.

These few pointers that we have short listed below has been skimmed down from the original version of http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

These will guide you to ask questions in ways that will optimize your chance of receiving prompt and satisfactory answers from groups.

* Challenging problems and good, lead to thought-provocation
* Questions that create a stimulus are a gift to us :-)
* Ask questions like a winner � with smartness, confidence...
* Meaningful subject header helps to make the "first impression"
* More effort you put in solving your problem, the more likely that we will help you...
* Mail should be appropriately paragraphed so that it's easier to quote you and reply back
* We would love to answer promptly to people who have demonstrated that they can learn from the answers.
* Develop some sense_of_humor, not mandatory but would definitely help ;-)

=- DONT's -=

* Posting without reading the manual, FAQ and google'ing
* NEVER NEVER send anything in MS word document, get a PDF converter or in rtf format,
think about people who work on Linux or those who don't use proprietary software's.
* Since we all know what HTML can do, so please only mail in plain text.
* Keep in mind that a vague question gets vague answers [or none]
* Stupid and obtuse questions might [will] get flamed
* If you don't understand the answer, try to use google/ manual/ faq on the supplied answer keywords before bouncing back for
clarification. If you still want clarification, show us that you did some more homework.
* Answering questions for careless and sloppy thinkers is not rewarding; we'd rather spend our time elsewhere.
